2016
NATIONAL FEMALE CONFERENCE AND GEPICT AWARDS
INTRODUCTION
This conference is to create a platform
for Nigerian female youths from the six (6) geo political zones of Nigeria who
are IT neophytes and gurus, associated with the intriguing world of Information
Communication Technology to compete and test their technical skills. GEPICT
2016 is a conference targeted towards enlightening, empowering and exposing
Nigerian Female youths and their talent to a community of IT experts and users
with the singular aim of stimulating the ‘can-do’ spirit that will drive the Nigerian
economy.
Gender Equality Participation in Information and
Communication Technology (GEPICT) is
a female initiative program organized under the office of the NACOSS
National Vice President. This year’s theme is “Female Gender
Participation in ICT; Its Effects on National Development”.
To acknowledge and appreciate the important role some individuals
and government-institutions, Private Sector Institutions, NGOs and support
agencies play in promoting gender equality and empowerment of women through ICT
in the country, the office of the national vice president is pleased to
introduce the first 2016 GEPICT Awards. The idea behind the Awards is to identify and
recognize the best performing STAKEHOLDERS IN ICT in the country. The Awards
ceremony will take place on the 12th of October 2016.
The main aim of the event is to unlock
female potentials in ICT, orientate female NACOSSites and ICT lovers on how and
what they can contribute to the growth of the economy technologically and also in
boosting up female mentality on Information Technology. This conference will
also be exposing female ICT lovers of what is in IT and the industries at
large. Looking at what is happening in the industry; there is a gender
divide, with women and girls enjoying less access to information technology
than men and boys. This can be true of rich and poor countries alike.
